3 Facts about Maui

In room five we were checking out a site called Summer learning Journey. The Summer Learning Journey is a site that has different activities to do. The activities are about different centuries in history. The first activities you do are in the 18th century then goes on to the 20th century. The first activity is writing three facts about Maui. We read a story about Maui and the fish and read it with a buddy. We then made a separate google drawing or slideshow. Here are my three facts about Maui.

  1. Hey there Deakyn, my name is Billy and I am from the Summer Learning Journey programme. It's awesome to see that you've made a good start to the blogging programme.

Thanks for completing an activity and sharing three interesting facts about Maui and the Giant Fish. I like the way that you have presented the information using Google Slides.

I really like the fact about how the North Island of New Zealand is the fish he caught, because when you look at a map of New Zealand the North Island does actually look like a fish.

I like how cheeky Maui is. In lots of stories about Maui he is often described as a trickster.

Do you know any other stories about Maui?

    Thanks, Billy

  2. Kia ora Deakyn,

My name is Megan and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey team who will be commenting on your posts this summer.

I am exited to see that you have started this adventure with us and shared an awesome google slides presentation. This is a creative and effective way to share your facts with us. I really like how you have started your activity off by sharing with your followers what the Summer Learning Journey is about. This will help your visitors understand what you are doing this summer and may remind them to participate themselves.

My favourite fact that you have shared, is how Maui's brothers would not allow him to fish with them. However, Maui did not take this as an answer. Maui persevered and decided to prove his brothers wrong. This shows that Maui is motivated and determined to reach his goals even if others do not believe in him. If you were in Maui's situation where your brothers didn't believe in you, what goal would you be motivated enough to follow and prove others wrong?

I am excited to see more of your creative posts Deakyn.

    Have a lovely day,
    Megan :)
