Kiwi Vs Predator

In room five, we have been working on Stop Motion Animations (SMA). We did our SMA about a kiwi and used our own imagination to create our own unique kiwi. We had to add 1 or more predators for our slide. We also had some food for the kiwi like worms, spiders, and other types of food. Here is mine. Hope you enjoy.

Netball Court Measuring

In room five, we are learning to measure the length, width and perimeter. When we measured the court we used two steps to make a metre, but we actually used steps and halved the number of steps we got. When I went into class I  added up my length estimate and width estimate to make up 81 I doubled 81 and it added up to 162 steps and half of that is 81, so 81 metres is the perimeter. Pet Day 2017

This term we had Pet Day. At Pet Day nearly everyone brought pets with them. After Pet Day we wrote about it, and then found a buddy to to our slideshow with. I brought the only German Shepherd in school! My buddy Ryan brought a cat called Flicka.

The Titanic

In room five, we are reading infobytes for reading. This time we read about "The Titanic". The Titanic was the biggest ship in the world and was one of the worst disasters at sea. After we read about it we made a DLO or a slideshow about it. My buddy Blake and I made a DLO about it, and put heaps of information about the Titanic on it. Hope you enjoy!

The Weka

In room five we are learning about native animals. We got put into groups of three and picked a native animal then researched about it, after that we wrote about it. Jackson, Zoe and I made a document and then a slideshow about our native animal. Jackson, Zoe and I picked the weka. The weka was probably one of the easiest native animals out of all of them, because it's common. I enjoyed working in a group of three because we all decided who's doing what and we all accepted our comments to each other. 

SMA

A couple of weeks ago, we joined room two into room three. Our teacher was Mrs.Hahn. We did heaps of fun activities together like musical hoops, SMA slides., funny self-portraits and more. Before lunch we made a SMA slide. SMA stands for "Stop motion animation". Mrs. Hahn let us do whatever we wanted. We paired up in buddies of two and helped each other. Here is mine. Hope you enjoy!

In room five, we have been learning about NZ native animals. This time we are learning about the Tuatara. We found a buddy for a start then we shared a document to each other then made a paragraph each. Here is mine and Miro's. Hope you enjoy!

Persuasive Pet Day Writing

In writing, we have been doing pet day writing. We wrote about trying to persuade the reader to get the pet your talking about. When we were finished with our document we then made a slideshow about it. Here is mine. Hope you enjoy it!

Pet Day Advertisment

In my reading group, Saturn, we had to make a pet food advertisement. Mrs. Idle printed out our advertisement and then we glued it on our pet day project. Three things I learned was that advertisements have  contact details. Secondly, they have big bold letters that stand out. Finally, they have things that are big things like the title and pictures which makes the reader interested. Here is my advertisement. Hope you enjoy it!

Supreme Ruler Of The Universe

In room 5, we were reading Storybytes about "The Supreme Ruler Of The Universe." At the start of the story we thought it was actually about the universe, but it turns out in the last paragraph we found out it was about a school. Each class was a universe, and each teacher was a Supreme Ruler of the class/universe. Here is mine and Jake's DLO. Hope you enjoy it!

The Football Champions

In Week 3 room two and room five combined classes in room three. We worked with Mrs. Hahn and made a slideshow based on a true story. We grabbed a buddy that has the same abilities in writing. My buddy Miro and I made the slideshow together and we did a paragraph each. Here is Miro's and mine. Hope you enjoy it!

Awahono Meaning DLO

In room five, we have been learning about New Zealand place names. We had to tell the meaning in a DLO of our place name. Here is my DLO. Hope you enjoy!

Clothing Combinations

In room five, we have been doing clothing combinations. My buddy Ryan and I made a DLO and we are in challenger. We had to put them in all of the combinations there are. Here is mine and Ryan's. Hope you enjoy!

Pompeii

In room five, we were reading infobytes about Pompeii. Pompeii is a old city that was hundreds and thousands of years ago! In Pompeii there was a volcano called Mount Vesuvius, but the people of Pompeii didn't know it was a volcano. 79 AD was the first time it erupted. It has erupted 36 times and the last time it erupted was in 1944. Mount Vesuvius is still an active volcano to this day. My buddy Jake and I made a DLO of Pompeii. Hope you enjoy!

Fun Run

At Awahono School in term three week two we had a fun run. The fun run was set up by room 6, and they added heaps of obstacles for us to go past. We wrote about it and we made a slideshow.

The Kakapo

In room five, we have been writing a report about the kakapo. The kakapo is a special and long living bird. It lives for 100 years! It is the only flightless parrot and the heaviest parrot in the world. My teacher put some links on a slideshow for us and we found lots of information about the kakapo. In my slideshow I put, What it looks like, What the kakapo eats and Where the kakapo is found, all in different paragraphs.

Spelling DLO

In spelling we have done DLO'S for the sound "ar". Miro, Solly, and I have made a spelling DLO for it. We are learning to do "ar" sounds but there's also more spellings for the "ar" as in participate, "a" as in vase, and "ear" as in heartache.

Maths DLO

In Room Five we did Math DLO's for two groups. My buddy Ryan and I made a maths DLO on different things for our equations. I have been learning my minuses, divided byes in maths so I can work on them. In the slideshow we were dividing in 2 and multiplying by five, also subtraction. Hope you enjoy!

Typing Tutor

I have been doing some Typing Tutor in Room 5 to help me type better. Right now on Typing Tutor I'm on the advanced level which helps me to type faster and better. I have been working on the last stage on advanced which is redoing what I did in advanced level. Something I have found difficult is doing the longest words I've ever done in Typing Tutor. I would like to finish the stage I'm on and move onto Practice.

Oi Sounds

In spelling Solly, Miro and I have been learning oi sounds, and Betelgeuse, our group, have been making a DLO slide show. We each have our own slide show and there all different words. Hope you enjoy it!

 

Name Art

In Room 5 we made some name art of our own names. First we coloured in the letters of our names. When we were finished doing that we did some patterns we practised earlier in the term. I learnt two things when I was doing my art work. I learnt how to do perfect bubble letters that look awesome when they are close together. The second thing I learnt was how to do cool patterns for my art work.

Life Education Harold

Last term we visited Harold Life Education and we learned about soda pop kids and water kids. We also learned how to solve our problems between soda pop kids and water kids. Room Five made slide shows about Life Education Harold. Here's mine, I hope you enjoy my presentation.
